taken almost exactly a year ago on a photography mission for school. back then I had no idea that all the people in the last shot would soon become my friends. aw! aren't they beautiful? the current weather is pretty much the same now as it was then... cold and icy and... am I really talking about the weather? okay, time to go.

reading while it's raining
almost done reading King's Dreamcatcher on my Kindle, for which I haven't really had time during the holidays, so it's neat being able to just read and nothing else (apart from eating chocolate cookies).
my Christmas was one of the loveliest in a long time, and I think it has something to do with my state of mind; less weary and somehow more aware. my mother outdid herself with the Christmas dinner and just being at home was so cozy. we drank gin/tonics and red wine, and I was so full all the time that I didn't eat more than a single caramel, which is really weird for me. for dinner two days later I made the best goddamned leek pie I've ever eaten - felt so proud and full.
the days in between Christmas and New Year's were spent in Århus, in Lars' new two-storey apartment, with great food and homemade Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. his girlfriend is 5 months pregnant with my new baby brother, so we drank wine on her behalf and smoked our cigarettes outside (she's a high school teacher, so she loves her wine/tobacco). we talked about names for the baby and no one agreed on any names, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope he's not a Brian.
New Year's Eve was spent at Tine and Simon's place on Amager, and I had such a good time. it was my first time meeting some of their friends, so at first I felt so, so awkward. I think everyone felt a little bit awkward, but somehow everything is less awkward when someone points out how awkward it really is. after that both funny, sad and inappropriate topics were discussed until about 4 am. Hugh from England had studied something or other called Norse Languages or something like it and Hiroko from L.A. is married to a Dane, so the conversation switched between Danish and English a whole lot. Hiroko and David have just moved to Copenhagen from Fanø, and I'm pretty sure Hugh also lives here, so hopefully I'll get to see them all again soon. Tine has some photos of the evening over on MusicIsMySecret.
oh well, yes. now I'm going to eat some frikadeller with my mother's homemade pickled beets on rye bread and read Dreamcatcher. have a nice Wednesday.

helping kiss
hanging sculptures
picture borrowed from Elisabeth Kiss
in November I helped out my friend Kiss with her sculptures for visual display in an event in Vega called Nordic Sounds (check out her flickr). I merely painted and fire-proofed them, but I love working with my hands, pretty much no matter what, so it was really cozy just hanging out with her, painting, drinking tea and listening to music. she shares this big workshop space with some other artists and there's everything the heart could ever want, paint/wood/tool-wise: amazing! it's called Ragn and is right next door to Mayhem.

twirly mist in november
some time ago we went to Mikkel's neat record shop, Æter Pladebutik, for the release of Twirly Mist's EP and So Like Dorian supported him. there was wine and an audience of about six, and the concerts were cozy. I love the oversized can instrument. before we went to the shop, I had the best fresh mozzarella sandwich ever, from Stefano's. amazing night.

endless gratitude ii
most of the Friday at the festival I was at the Yuri Landman workshop with Emma and eight others, building a Home Swinger, and Saturday was spent learning to play the instruments together and ultimately show off on the big stage. it was a totally awesome experience, even though I was very nervous. I obviously didn't get any pictures of that, but there are some over on Tine's cool blog.

endless gratitude
I finally took the time to look through the photos from this years Festival of Endless Gratitude (there are many, many, many); it made me all nostalgic, but luckily there is a support show for the festival, this Thursday at Mayhem, so I can wallow a little bit. can't wait. hopefully a lot of people will spend a lot of money, so the festival can live on. and this Wednesday there's the release of Geiger no. 21, which will include some of my photos from the festival. woo!
these seven photos are from the last day of building and the first official day/night of the festival.

wind as musician
we went to Amager Strand to see and hear Harmonic Fields. musical instruments are rigged so that they're triggered when the wind blows. it sounds like a lovely ambient record and I found myself staring at the sea listening to all of it. unfortunately it was really windy, so some of the instruments had been taken down; I was particularly sad that I didn't get to hear the cellos. hey, at least I got to experience this amazing event, yay. it was only in Denmark for a short week - I wish it was always there, because then I'd go there whenever I felt blue.
I went with Tobias, Tine and Jonas, and we drank bad apple cider that tasted like wine and said "wow" to each other. afterwards we went to Tine's place for beers, talk and pizzeria pasta with Simon and Bitten. I hadn't seen any of them for what felt like months, so I was excited to see them all. we finished off at Jaguaren, a local Amager bar, with Louise and her friend. totally awesome day.
ps. Tobias' mother gave me one of her bikes, it's all black and cool. so great! I feel like I can go anywhere again.

school trip to Berlin: hanging out in the warm spring sun
one of the many faces of the first aid training doll
today was my first day back in school since late June, and it was pretty good. we didn't do much school related work, instead we drank coffee and ate nachos after an early exit. pictured above are the people I ate nachos with - some of the nicest people in the world - celebrating my birthday in May. I'm so glad to be back.

FREDERIKSBERG HAVE M/TINE
